Well, it's been awhile since I've been through the interviewing process. I'm a little bit rusty. I've been scouring the Internet for job openings that I'm qualified for for the last 2 weeks. It's a difficult process because I'm not yet Colorado Teacher Licensed and I didn't get to Colorado until July. Most schools do their hiring in spring. Last week I found a great job listing. It's at The Ricks Center for Gifted Children at DU. DU is the University of Denver. It's a small, private university (reminds me a little bit of the Claremont Colleges. The Gifted Center is hiring a part time preschool teacher. I taught preschool during college and just after I graduated. I enjoyed it, but it usually doesn't pay as well as elementary. So, I left it. However, this school is prestigious and requiring a degree in education for this job. It's also a salaried position, I'm assuming that they pay better than most preschools. So, I applied and went into my first interview on Monday. I found out that they apply the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. I wasn't too familiar with that, but I did a little bit of research. It seems to be a more natural, child-directed, teacher as learner philosophy. It seems to be working because The Center has an outstanding reputation. The approach is very different than what I'm used to though. Due to that, I wasn't really sure how I did on Monday's interview. However, I was called back for a second interview on Thursday. I really felt like I bombed that one, but they called back today with pretty good news. I've been scheduled for a phone introduction with the founder and director on Monday. She seems to be a pretty important lady. So, I don't feel like I'm out of the running yet. I guess that I'll know more on Monday. This would be a great part-time opportunity at a really fascinating school. I'm excited. Fingers crossed.
We have yet to choose our "dream house" yet. We're going out with our Realtor one last time on Saturday morning. This is it! We've narrowed it down to 5. I created a spreadsheet/checklist for Saturday. I really want to make sure that we're making the best choice. WS is all ready with his pre-approval. We'll be set to make an offer! We should know more by Saturday.
Great job! Keep it up. I love Reggio - Anna's school is Reggio.
